This year, Roanoke Catholic School introduced a new event for the first time. The Oktoberfest that our school hosted had all sorts of fun activities that took place. With free food and drinks for everyone, it wouldn’t have been a surprise if just about everyone had shown up. The idea and plans for the event were all put together by Mr. and Mrs. Danny and Holly Wynne, the owners of Tubs R’ Us, a local company that refinishes tubs for homes and larger residences. See http://www.tubsrusinc.com/ for more information. While the food was advertised to be available only while supplies last, the supplies were more than adequate to support the event for the total of its duration. Other fun portions of the event were the live music from a band whose lead member actually graduated from Roanoke Catholic almost twenty years ago. For the adults, alcoholic beverages were available to complete the experience. The only thing missing was high school students, with a very limited number of highschoolers coming. Some sort of events more geared towards the older students may be able to solve that problem in the future. This event was a great way to spend part of fall, and as the first of a total of four events that the Wynne family has planned, the year is looking to be filled with some great times that won’t cost any money to the participants.
